As most of us can recall, Samsung has been working hard on the tablet that will succeed its Galaxy Tab S duo. Rumors have it that Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S2 will come in two sizes: a 9.7-inch model and an 8.0-inch model. The Galaxy Tab S2 will be thinner than even the 6.1 mm thick iPad Air from Apple. It will also be very slim, and will utilize 4:3 aspect ratio screens.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Would be the Thinnest Tablet in the World
The thickness of the Galaxy Tab S2 is still unknown, but it is expected to be either 5.4 mm or 5.3 mm, if that is the case, then Galaxy Tab S2 will have the distinction of being the thinnest tablet in the world taking over from Dell Venue 87840 that is currently the thinnest tablet in the world.
The rumored measurements for the Samsung Galaxy S2 are 237.1 mm × 168.8 mm × 5.4 mm for the 8.0-inch tablet, and 237.17 mm x 169.58 mm x 5.4 mm for the 9.7-inch table. And they are expected to weigh 260 grams and 407 grams respectively. The dimensions and weight would not only make the devices “razor thin”, but also very light. The tablets would be crowned as the thinnest Samsung tablets to date.
It is now reported that Samsung Galaxy Tab S 9.7 and Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 are set to be announced officially in June, approximately one year since the first gen Galaxy Tab S was launched. Both the variants will again come in two flavors: Wife plus LTE and Wi-Fi only.
Other Specs
It is also rumored that the upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 will be made of metal. It will be driven by a 1.9 GHz Exynos processor, 64-bit. The S2 will have 32 GB internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot, and 3 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Tab S2 will feature a 2048 x 1536p-resolution Super AMOLED display, just like Nexus 9 and the recent iPads. The device will have a 2.1 MP front camera and an 8 MP rear camera. The RAM and camera are directly borrowed from the current Galaxy Tab S.
In June this year, the Galaxy Tab S2 will be released in many countries including India, the European countries, US, Canada, Latin America, China, Hong Kong, and Korea.
